Oman's Role in East Africa

East Africa Conference Muscat

The conference on ‚Oman’s Role in East Africa‘ was held Dec. 11th through 13th 2012 at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat.

The three day conference presented lectures and panels on the historical role of Oman and Omanis in East Africa. All of the participating scholars emphasized the significance of the long-lasting Omani presence in East Africa and Zanzibar. A DEMAX delegation attended the conference to gain additional knowledge on the subject. The third episode of the projected TV-series on the history of Oman will focus on the Sultanate of Zanzibar in the 19th century.
